One of Schwiekerts primary methods of reaching his constituency is through press releases on his campaign website. These press releases have been more spaced out but recently have ramped up and become increasingly consistent, likely in anticipation of the election. Primarily these press releases are used to credit claim and position take.

Schweikerts preferred social media platforms are Twitter and Facebook. While he does use these platforms to position take and credit claim, he does not do so regularly. When he does post it's often to reach his constituency using his appearances in Congress.

Leading up to the election a massive TV ad campaign is expected due to the heightened competition of the election as well as favorable pricing for ad time in Arizona. Because the ads haven't started we don't know what their objective will be though it is likely that they will have elements of position taking, credit claiming, and advertising.

Schweikert in previous elections has also utilized Franking to connect to constituents. Any congressperson would be foolish not to use this free service.

Example of Franking

Yard signs are another way that Schweikert advertises his campaign. These signs are a textbook example of advertising, they simply promote name recognition.

Ultimately Schweikert connects with his constituents primarily through position taking and credit claiming. This is due to the fact he has less need for advertising because as an incumbent he already has good name recognition. When he does do position taking and credit claiming it's often through his seat in the house, whether that be franking or the reposting of house speeches. Because of this Schwiekert is a prime example of a congressperson whos electoral connection is strengthened greatly by their position as an incumbent.
